Holbrooke Hotel

The Holbrooke Hotel in Grass Valley, may be better known for its extensive list of historical visitors rather than its ghostly haunts.  Regardless, the combination of famous occupants and the tales of afterlife inhabitants make this a oft visited place of mystery and curiosity.

Grass Valley, like so many other places on the west side of the Sierra Nevada, started as mining town, founded by prospectors hoping to find their riches in California's Gold Rush.

Some of its famous visitors include a slew of U.S. Presidents including Ulysses S. Grant, Benjamin Harrison, James A. Garfield and Grover Cleveland.  Additionally, storyteller Mark Twain, visited the Holbrooke.

Anyone fortunate (or unfortunate) enough to have experience the hotels otherworldly guests say that the ghosts make no efforts to keep themselves hidden.  They move furniture and talk in groups loud enough to be hear.

Many say that, past visitors so enjoyed their stay that they can't think of anywhere better to spend their eternal afterlife.

The Holbrooke, because of its past and its many sightings, is a regular haunt for ghost hunters, paranormal researchers and those just wanting a glimpse into proof of existence in life after death.
